NPFL: Nasarawa United walk tight rope to playoff

26 May 2019, 14:35

Nasarawa United do not only need to beat already relegated Yobe Desert Stars in Sunday's Nigeria Professional Football League climax, they will also hope Akwa United do them a favor by beating FC IfeanyiUbah.

With both Akwa United (38) and Kano Pillars (37) already in the playoff, the trio of FC IfeanyiUbah (33), Nasarawa United (30) and El Kanemi Warriors (30) will hope they win with other results favoring them.

But as it is, the odds favors FC IfeanyiUbah as they need only a point to secure a playoff qualifications irrespective of any result anywhere.

Nasarawa United skillful winger Sunusi Ibrahim revealed that his side are yet ready to throw in the towel over their possibility of making the playoffs despite going through a run of poor results in recent games.

“We are into the last game of the proper season and we hope to still secure a playoff place as I still nurse the ambition of winning the golden boot. The results from our last three games have been far from impressive but we will continue to fight till the end.”

Sunusi Ibrahim who has had a breakthrough season so far leads the 2019 NPFL assist chats with 8 assists with 8 goals thereby making him the highest goal contributor in the league as he hopes to continue to improve in all aspects of his game.

“I’m still a work in progress even though I already have 8 goals and 8 assists to my name, I will continue to work hard so as to maintain a level of consistency and with hard work one tends to continue to get better, he concluded.”
