Former Real Madrid forward Emmanuel Adebayor has opened up on how Cristiano Ronaldo was on the receiving end of Jose Mourinho's wrath despite netting a hat-trick.

Adebayor spent half a season at Real Madrid, on loan from Manchester City back in 2011 under Mourinho's tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mourinho left Madrid back in 2013 after falling out with various members of the squad with Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos reported to be the players behind his sacking.

In an interview with Sportsmail,  Adebayor offered an insight into Mourinho’s ruthlessness and high standards as a manager, "At Real, we were winning 3-0 at half-time. He (Mourinho) came into the dressing room and went mental. He kicked the fridge, kicked the television, threw water.

"He killed everyone. I remember he once killed Ronaldo after he scored a hat-trick. He said: ‘Everyone says you are the best in the world and you are playing badly. Show me you are the best'. Cristiano took it. Ronaldo could score a hat-trick but talk about the one he missed."
