Despite media reports
linking them with moves to newly promoted Kariobangi Sharks, Mathare United
midfielders Duke Abuya and Alfonse Ndonye have signed new three-year deals, the club has confirmed.
The two youngsters were reportedly heading to Sharks to link
up with former Mathare United team manager William Muluya who is the current
Kariobangi Sharks boss. They have however had
change of heart and extended their stay with Mathare as confirmed by Mathare
CEIO Jacktone Obure.
-Ndonye and Abuya have signed new three-year deals each, what was being reported in the media was incorect because the players still had
running contracts. They have agreed to
our new terms and we are happy to have them here at least for the next three
year, Obure told Futaa.com.
At the same time Obure confirmed Robinson Kamura and Eric
Johanna have quit the club. Kamura is closing in on a move to AFC Leopards
while Johanna is a target for both Leopards and Gor Mahia.
-Their contracts ended on 31st December and I can
confirm they will not be renewing. Negotiations have not taken place and they
are not training with the team meaning they are no longer part of us, he
Mathare is currently conducting trials to recruit players
for 2017 season.
