Manchester United world record signing Paul Pogba will not taste United’s first game of the 2016/2017 Premier League away to Bournemouth on Sunday 14 August.
The France international became the world's most expensive player after completing his move back to the Red Devils earlier this week, signing a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
However, the Football Association have confirmed that he will not be part of the opening weekend clash due to a suspension that has been carried over from his time with Juventus. Pogba was not expected to feature anyway having only recently returned to training following an extended break after Euro 2016, but it has now been confirmed that he is unavailable.
United will also be missing Chris Smalling for the opening game after he was sent off in the FA Cup final, while Leicester City’s Robert Huth and Moussa Dembele of Tottenham Hotspur are the only other players banned for the opening weekend.
