Kenyan striker Allan Wanga, formerly at Tusker
, Petro Atletico and FC Baku in Azerbaijan is elated at scoring for Harambee Stars yesterday in the friendly game against Ethiopia.
Wanga’s brace bring his tally at the National level to eight in 24 games for Kenya and three in total against Ethiopia in just two meetings. During the CECAFA senior challenge cup held in Nairobi, Wanga put one past Ethiopia in Kenya’s 2-0 win
during the group stages.
Not that easy
“I am more than happy to have scored for the Stars. It gives me confidence ahead of the run up to the 2012 qualifiers that kicks off next month” said Wanga who will be eligible for a work permit to return to FC Baku in Azerbaijan after his stint with Sofapaka
comes to an end.
“Despite the win
[3-0] yesterday, the game was not that easy for us. At high altitude we struggled in the game and really got exhausted. But nonetheless, it was a win
for us” added Wanga while talking to KenyanFootie.com
Prior to Wanga’s two goals yesterday, he had scored three during CECAFA 2007 held in Tanzania and broke a two year drought last year when he scored, for once in front of home fans, during the last 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier against Nigeria. Another two followed during the 2009 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup [one against Djibouti]
