Ronaldo vs Messi! How Wanyama, Okumbi cast the Kenyan votes

The FIFA Best player awards went down on Monday 9 January with Portugal and Real Madrid hit man  Cristiano Ronaldo piping his eternal rival  Lionel Messi to yet another prestigious award.

The long standing supremacy battle pitting the pair was once  again put forth to the national team coaches, captains and a member of the media from each country to decide on the winner.

The following his how the Kenyan trio voted:

Stanley Okumbi (Coach): 1. Messi, 2. Cristiano, 3. Griezzman
Victor Wanyama (Captain): 1. Cristiano, 2. Messi, 3. Griezzman
Robin Toskin (Media): 1. Cristiano, 2. Mahrez, 3. Messi

Patriotism?

As usual, patriotism was among the factor exhibited by the voting pattern as revealed by the list unveiled by FIFA. for instance, Wales duo of Ashley Williams and Coach Chris Coleman elected Gareth Bale as their first choice.

The trend was continued by French pair of Didier Deschamps and captain Hugo Lloris who had Antoine Griezmann as their first choice in the best player category.

Near home, Tanzania coach Charles Mkwasa went for Ronaldo, Messi and Toni Kroos as Uganda’s Milutin Micho went for a Ronaldo, Messi Suarez order.
