Former Tusker FC midfielder Crispin Olando has flown out of the country for Canada to join MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.
The unattached Olando, known by his peers as Alphie, has landed a six month contract at the club after a coach associated with the Whitecaps fell in love with his skills after watching a DVD of Olando playing for Tusker against Gor Mahia.
- Olando flew out of the country last night (Thursday 17 January 2013) for Canada where he has been handed a six month contract to try out for MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps which is based in Canada but features in the MLS. A club coach was impressed with what he saw of the player and so he has been given a six month visa and deal, a source that did not want to be named told Futaa.com.
The move will come as a surprise to many and especially the Nairobi City Stars with whom Olando has been training and was said to be close to joining.
Olando is represented by former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno.
The defensive midfielder will likely become the second Kenyan to play for an MLS side currently, as Lawrence Olum features in the same Division for Sporting Kansas City.
