On Saturday 22 December 2012, McDonald Mariga's Inter Milan had to fight
back from a goal down to hold visiting Genoa 1-1 in their last league
game of 2012 played at the San Siro.
In not so many words, Inter
Coach Andrea Stramaccioni regretted the lost points as he had hoped for a win
that could have given Inter a Chance to go into New Year placed second in the
20- team log.
-We knew this was a difficult time with many problems,
including some that aren't hitting the headlines, he was quoted by Sports Mole.
-The result might not seem positive, but I still want to compliment the lads.
Despite going behind to a buttoned-down team, we are left with regret at not
winning the game.
At the close of the game, Inter remained second on the log
but at the close of Saturday fell down the pecking order to fourth.
1-0 win away to Sampdoria sent the side second with 36 points while Fiorentina’s 3-0 beating
of host Palermo put them third with 35 points and ahead of Inter of goal difference.
After 18 rounds all teams trail Juventus who sit atop the
log with 44 points.
