On Sunday 14 April, Kenyan media was awash with news of Kolongolo head Coach Jan Koops resigning.
It later emerged that Koops, who has a running contract with Nambale-based side, had not furnished the club’s administration with a formal resignation.
However, the thing that irks the club’s boss Kizito Namulanda the most was the fact that he opted out of the team, hours before they were to play Timsales FC.
-It was unprofessional for the coach to resign in the media,
even as the team was getting ready to playing a league match.
-This deed was very demoralizing to the players but I am happy that given the circumstances, we still emerged from the match with a point, Namulanda told Futaa.com.
The match against Timsales was Kolongolo’s second of the season and after the draw, the team is now ranked ninth in Group One of the Division One’s Zone B.
