United is as good as out of the second tier Division One.
This comes after the team failed to honor its weekend games against Brighter Stars in Lamu on Saturday 6 April 2013 and against Malindi’s Maweni City on Sunday.
The two skipped games add on to a missed game in the past weekend, on Sunday 31 March, when the side failed to show up at the Hope Centre for a clash with KRA.
According to the rules that govern the 2013 division one league, any side that fails to honor three games in a season, continuous or collectively, will be booted from the league.
Muranga United mentioned to futaa.com they failed to travel for the Coastal games as the team was attending to a funeral of family members of one of its players – an occurrence they state they communicated to FKF in good time.
Did no grant
While confirming receipt of the communication – not in writing but on phone, FKF also confirms not to have granted Muranga United a postponement.
-They called on Thursday and gave reason why they will not travel for their weekend games. But after looking into the reasons, FKF did not grant a postponement. They should have travelled for the games, said the Chair of Leagues and Competitions Doris Petra.
With Muranga United a now show in both Lamu and Malindi, the home teams are happy beneficiaries of walkovers that come with 2-0 score lines and three free points.
Sources very close to futaa indicate that Muranga United’s participation in the league is being dogged by internal wrangling of officials.
