Five teams withdraw from President's Cup

Five teams, which had registered to play in the 2012 edition of the Football Kenya Federation-run President’s Cup.

These are Malindi, Moyas, Bidco, Shabana and Maua United.

As such KRA, Wazito, Homeboyz and Nairobi Stima, who were set to play Malindi, Moyas, Bidco and Shabana respectively get the clear to the round three of the tournament.


This is in accordance with the tournament's article 6.7 which states that :

- In case of withdrawal of a team from any round, the opponent who it was scheduled to meet will qualify for the next round.

Murang’a were to play Maua in a pre-round two match, with the winner getting the chance to take on Wamo.

However, with the withdrawal of Maua, Murang'a have now been cleared to progress into the second round..

The five withdrawing teams are also subject to a two-year ban, in direct relation to article 6.6, which states that:

-Apart from the financial sanctions…every club withdrawing from the competition after the establishment of the fixtures will be forbidden from participating in all FKF organized tournaments for two years following its withdrawal.

Round three

KRA will now take on Wazito as Homeboyz await the winner of the match between West Kenya Sugar and Muhoroni Youth.

Nairobi Stima also have to wait for the match between Nakumatt and Karuturi, to know their next opponent.
