2012 Africa Cup of Nations co-hosts Equatorial Guinea has landed the services of Andoni Goikoetxea, a former Spanish defender.

Andoni takes over from Brazilian Gilson Paulo whose one year contract expired at the close of February 2013.

The appointment will see Andoni take up on a coaching role outside Spain, where he had coached several clubs, for the first time ever.

Paulo was called in for the post after Henri Michel, who ended up being Kenya’s National Coach for 104 days in 2012, resigned from the post for the second - and final time in two months.
