Division tie fails to see 90 at the Coast

A Division One Zone A tie between Congo JMJ United and Mathare Youth played at the Refinery grounds on Sunday 13 May 2012 failed to see the full 90 minutes as it aborted midway through the second half.

The game that kicked off at 1500hrs was locked at 0-0 at the half. Mathare Youth got a goal early in the second half but Congo rallied to equalize through Timothy Otieno on 70 minutes.

Could have seen the player sent off

Four minutes later, as reported from the ground, A Mathare Youth player who was on a yellow made contact with a Congo player.

Centre referee Abdallah Rufai, seemingly going for a yellow which could have seen the player sent off, was surrounded by Mathare Youth players.

It is after that occurrence that the game was called off.

Bottom of the 20-team standings

A decision on the game, as well as the true picture on the events of the day will have to wait till the referee submits his match report as well as the Match Commissar.

Till then, both team will remain in their current positions; Congo at 14th with 13 points and Mathare Youth bottom of the 20-team standings with six points from 11 games.
