Denmark suspends Bendtner

Nicklas Bendtner, on loan at Serie A side Juventus from English Premier League side Arsenal, has been slapped with a six months suspension from the Danish national team for an alcohol induced driving incident on Saturday 2 March 2013.

According to reports, Bendtner, whle under the influence of alcohol, was stopped by authorities for driving on the wrong side of the road on Saturday. An official statement on the occurrence has now been issued


-Based on Nicklas Bendtner's traffic offence on Saturday night, which affected his public image in a negative way, DBU informed him that we take a clear distance from his breach of the Highway Code Section 53rd, read a statement on the organisation's official website.

-The Football Association expects that he spends the next six months on these considerations, and DBU then will be happy to take a dialogue with him about how he may in the future see himself positively contributing to the binding community around the first team.

FC Copenhagen

Bendtner’s Juve loan deal kicked off on 31 August 2012. He is set to return at the close of the season.

Bendtner joined Arsenal as a 16 year-old from FC Copenhagen in 2005. He spent the 2006-7 season on loan to Birmingham City. He spent another season long spell at Sunderland in the 2011/12.
