Kajembe was banned for
life by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for assaulting
and severely injuring referee Martin Shikuku during the division one derby
between Sparki Youth and bitter rivals Admiral at Tudor Day ground on 22 September
Kajembe was arrested at
noon by Changamwe police at his residence in Bangladesh and is being held in
custody at Makupa Police Station.
Two land cruisers
carrying uniformed police officers cordoned off Kajembe’s house at railway
quarters at Bangladesh before apprehending him.
-I prayed God for the
culprit to be apprehended and my prayers have been answered. I thank the
police for the good job done and hope justice will be done, said Martin Wekesa
Kajembe was charged at the Mombasa Law court
on Thursday for
causing grievous bodily harm to Wekesa contrary to the penal code.
The accused pleaded
not guilty to the charge and was bonded Kshs. 200,000 (two hundred thousand
than Kajembe’s ban, Sparki
suffered even further from the ordeal on that day. Technical Director
Mohammed Kheri was slapped with a one year ban as well as midfielder Kelvin
Odhiambo. As a club, Sparki Youth as a club was docked six league points.
