Kenya is high in anticipation
as the national team Harambee Stars takes to the pitch later on Saturday 8 December
to face off with regional arch rival Uganda Cranes in the 2012 CECAFA Senior
Challenge Cup final.
Former Kenyan international defender Ezekiel Sacchi Akwana is a firm believer that if
Stars put their act together as a team there is no way they will fall to Cranes
for the second time in the tournament and as a former defender, he insists on
smart defending when without the ball.
Speaking to futaa.com,
he also observed that Stars are strong on set pieces and urged the team to take
full advantage of that when they have a chance in the game.
-We can win this – if we work as a team especially when
defending in our own half without the ball we will stun them; I am sure of that
but if we open up to them it might be dangerous. The agility we possess when
going forward should be there even in defence.
-We are also great on set pieces; we have scored a number of
goals from such so when we get the chance we just need to breathe in well and
make that count. This is going to be a game of very few chances; the more
precise we are the better, he said.
The match will be staged at the Nelson Mandela Stadium,
Namboole as from 1800hrs.
