Ghana underlined their readiness to end years of waiting to climb back to the summit of African Football, when they defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 3-0 in a pre tournament friendly at Abu Dhabi.
The Black Stars had not beaten the Egyptians in recent memory.
The two sides played out a 2-2 draw in a 2009 friendly, and Ghana lost 1-0 to the North Africans at the Nations Cup in Angola, but looked the better of the two sides as they completely dominated the former multiple African Champions.
The Black Stars took the lead after only 18 minutes when Emmanuel Agtemang Badu out-foxed his marker to rifle home a header off a well played Mubarak Wakasso free kick.
The half ended with the Egyptians playing their usual passing game, trying to catch the Ghanaians on the break, with no success.
The second half was only nine minutes old when Ghana found a way to breach the Egyptians rear guard again. This time, it was Kwadwo Asamoah that created for Richmond Boakye to blast home.
Team captain, Asamoah Gyan sealed a sweet win
for the Ghaians, when he took advantage of a mix up in the Egyptian defence, to beat Ahmed El Shenawy for the third goal.
The last time Egypt conceded three goals in a loss was in a 3-1 loss to England in March 2010
