Under-fire Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has yet again raised eyebrows after the 20-year-manager stated that not finishing in the top four would not necessarily hurt Arsenal like it would have years ago.

“Le Professeur” was referring to the revenue that clubs accrue from competing for what is arguably the most coveted trophy in European football. The 67-year-old said that missing out on the Champions League would only hurt Arsenal’s reputation sports-wise but that the influx in Premier League TV money would subsidise whatever losses the club would make financially.

The Frenchman admitted his fear at the likelihood of Arsenal missing the prestigious competition for the first time since he joined the top-tier English side in 1996, moments after an unmotivated Gunners squad were thrashed 3-1 by West Brom.

Wenger however remained adamant that not finishing in the top four would not influence the decision he is yet to fully make on his future with the club, all this in the wake of fresh “Wenger Out” protests that saw angry fans and supporters alike hire planes to make their sentiments on the matter known.
