Kenyan referees from the North Rift region are set to undergo a refresher course beginning November 2012 in an effort to raise the standards of officiating at the grassroot.
In a communiqué, the region’s KFRA treasurer Ian Godfrey Juma said that complaints had increasingly been coming from clubs and stakeholders at the lower level therefore there is need to better train the referees.
Laws’ review
-With the kind of officiating in our provincial league, it has come to the attention of the branch K.F.R.A. Treasurer that most of the referees have either forgotten the laws of the game or they are too old for the matches.
-There are lots of complains from participating clubs and something needs to be done urgently to ensure that fans at the grassroots enjoy football once again.
The referees are set to learn how to handle matches in the fairest way.
