Patrick Matasi

2010 Domestic Cup runners up West Kenya Sugar are up in arms over what they term as lack of compensation for their former keeper Patrick Matasi who joined AFC Leopards in the off season.

In a correspondence to our desk, the Kakamega based club Nationwide Two side West Kenya is concerned that they have seen no competition for their former keeper whom the club says still has a contract at West Kenya Sugar.

still attached

- They took my goalkeeper and have kept the boy on the bench up to date. AFC never paid anything to my club for signing him and they never requested for his release letter, said the clubs team manager Frederick Wakhisi

- As per the contract entered, Patrick Matasi (goalkeeper) is still attached to West Kenya Sugar FC, added Wakhisi

holding off

According to records at the KPL, Matasi was paid a sign on fee of Kshs. 70,000 for his move to ingwe and the club paid the mandatory Kshs. 5,000 development fee for his services. Details in the transfer however indicate Matasi was transferred from Western Sugar and not West Kenya Sugar.

West Kenya Sugar commandeered the headlines in 2010 after seeing off Premier League sides Sony Sugar and Western Stima before holding off 2009 League Champions Sofapaka 0-0 at half time before dropping the final of the FK Cup 0-2 to end up as runners up.
