Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called on fans to respect former Gunners’ striker now at Manchester United Robin Van Persie when the two sides meet on Saturday 3 November 2012 at Old Trafford.
Speaking to soccernet.espn.go.com ahead of the match, Wenger urged the fans to withhold any king of outrage they may be having against the hit-man since his departure was mutual.
-I hope he gets a respectful reception since we campaign against discrimination of all varieties and it is the same when you disrespect players.
-Saturday is not about Van Persie. It is about us getting a result, insisted Wenger.
This will be Van Persie’s first encounter with his former since making his move away from the Emirates at the start of the season.
