With the nominations of the Kenyan Premier League’s best performers out and subject to speculation, focus now shifts on the most obvious category, that of the top scorers.
Waruru emerged best
Ulinzi Stars striker Stephen Waruru emerged the best scorer in the league with 12 goals to his name. He was the followed by four others who tied on second, finishing with 11 goals each.
The four are Mike Baraza of AFC Leopards, Clifford Alwanga of KCB, Hugo Nzoka of Sony Sugar and Kevin Kimani of Mathare United.
Winner bags 100,000
The award given to the top scorer is normally the prize money of Kshs 100,000, with the runner up taking home a total of 75,000 and the second runner up gets 50000.
With four players tying at second, they are all going to share the second and third place amounts equally, which means kshs 125,000 will be split among the four for each to take home a total of kshs 31,250.
Kshs 31,250 each
Thus as Waruru bags kshs 100,000, Baraza, Alwanga, Kimani and Hugo will walk away with kshs 31,250 each.
They will be awarded during the FOYA awarding ceremony to be held on Wednesday 7 December at Safari Park Hotel.
