Ulinzi Stars striker Steve Waruru has lauded his teammates for their extemporary performance on Saturday 11th June against former Kenya Premier league champions Tusker Fc. Speaking to kenyanfootie after the game, Waruru said that the game was not as easy to win
Tough game
-The game was very tough because Tusker has quality players but we managed to counter their moves and that is how we snatched the win. We were able to pull up our game and push forward thus our early goal, said the former Harambee Stars striker.
-It was so competitive on the pitch and one could not have easily identified a winner till the last whistle of the game. We enjoyed ourselves though and did what we had been called up to do in the match and that is to win the game which we did, added the former Thika United player.
Aiming at the top
- We are stopping at nothing because we want to retain the title. Achieving the target of finishing top five in the first leg of the season has also encouraged us to keep working and we believe we will be at the top soon, said the soft spoke attacker in conclusion.
The Ulinzi Stars striker featured for the Harambee Stars in their first leg of the Africa Cup of Nations against The Palancas Negras from Angola in March and then the friendly against Super Eagles from Nigeria. He was however left out by head coach Zedekiah Zico Otieno for the return leg.
