On Wednesday 19 September, Scottish Premier League Champions
Celtic will be hosting Benfica in their opening match of the 2012 edition of
the UEFA Champions League.
Benfica have lost all matches they have played at the Celtic Park and this fact keeps Celtic’s optimism at a peak.
Optimism
However, the club’s head Coach Neil Lennon hopes his players will give their all in the match, unlike the situation in their last league match, away to St Johnstone, which they lost 2-1. This was their first loss of the season and it still has Lennon irked.
-I have no doubt they will all be up for the game tomorrow. But they should have been up for the game on Saturday. Instead they gave a needless performance, Lennon told the eveningtimes.co.uk.
-The only spark for me was Kris Commons, in an attacking sense. Victor Wanyama and Charlie Mulgrew didn't really affect the game the way they can.
-But, I do worry that, when these boys are away on international duty, they forget where their priorities lie.
