Scottish side Celtic have booked at least another six UEFA Champions League games after the team romped past the playoff round with a 2-0 win over visiting Swedish side Helsingborg at the Celtic Park on Wednesday 29 August 2012.
4-0 aggregate
Celtic scored a goal in each half in the playoff reverse tie played from 2145hrs; the first through Gary Hooper who scored from close range at the half hour mark and the second through Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama two minutes to time.
The 2-0 score line topped up on a similar score line for the side when Celtic visited Helsingborg in the first leg playoff tie on Wednesday 22 August in Sweden.
History
Celtic now confirms their path to the Group stages of the competition with a 4-0 aggregate.
The
team will now await pooling for the Group stages where the 32 qualified teams will be split into eight groups of four teams – with each guaranteed
to play six games; three home and three away.
To have scored for Celtic, via a header, Wanyama, who was making only his third appearance in the elite European club competition, enters the history books for being the first ever Kenyan to score at the UEFA Champions League.
