Wanyama is among eight foreign based players called up by head coach Henri Michel, for the upcoming friendly match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
So far, captain Dennis Oliech has already confirmed participation for the match that will take place on Tuesday 16 October 2012 at the Nyayo National Stadium and now Wanyama has also come through.

- I have spoken to Victor Wanyama today, and he has confirmed that he will be available for the match against South Africa.
- As per the FIFA rules, they should arrive four days earlier, so we expect him here on 12 October 2012, Football Kenya Federation CEO Lodvick Aduda told Futaa.com.
Wanyama's elder brother McDonald Mariga has said that he will not be able to make the match as he is still recovering from injury.
