In the recently-released national team squad to take charge in the upcoming international friendly match, AFC Leopards’ forward Allan Wanga’s name was strikingly missing.
Wanga picked an ankle injury in April 8, 2012, during a league match against Rangers FC, an injury that kept following him through the rest of the season. He was forced to sit out of the teams last matches of the year, besides missing on national team duty.
Back to form
However, the player recently resumed training with his AFC Leopards side and even though many of the side’s fans expected his name to be among the chosen-24, head Coach James Nandwa had his own selection criteria.
-The match we are preparing for is a big one and my plan is to have only the players that are in perfect shape in service. I understand Wanga has started training and I did not want to subject him to pressure this early in his recovery, Nandwa told Futaa.com.
-Besides, I am also aware that he is supposed to be travelling to Oman and I was not sure whether he would be available for the match.
Venue
The match, to be played on a FIFA international match-date (6 February), will be hosted in Tunisia, for security purposes.
