Walkover hands Yanga first season win

.

Nyahururu based Yanga FC waited and waited for Busia based Outgrowers FC to show up for a division one Zone B tie on Saturday 21 April 2012.

But the visitors failed to turn up for the 1500hrs kick off. Signs were all clear that Yanga will have no opponent when Outgrowers failed to show up of the pre-match earlier in the day.

An automatic walkover

-We are not sure if they will turn up as they failed to show up for the pre-match, said Yanga head Coach Francis Githaiga to futaa.com

Despite having confirmed that they (Outgrowers) had travelled the team did not show up at the Nyahuru Stadium.

-It’s a simple case; they failed to turn up which hands Yanga an automatic walkover, confirmed Zone B fixtures secretary Evans Rono to futaa.com

Three new free points

-We could have been happier to have picked a win in the field but none the less we have the first ein of the season and I hope that it will now open up for us to move further up in the league in the coming games, concluded Githaiga

Happy at three new free points, Yanga moves off spot 19 in the 20-team Division one Zone B to perch at a season high 17th with six points from nine games. Yanga’s leap sends Outgorwers to their old position – 19 with their four points from eight games.
