Old is Gold founder James Waithaka has admitted that he was delighted to see his side finish third in the just concluded FKF’s 2012 Girls Premier League.
The Nairobi-based side faced stiff competition from well established teams like Matuu FC, who eventually won the title, and Waithaka claims that sealing a third place is an achievement the club can be proud of.
Proud-man
-We are happy to have concluded the season placed third.
-For me, that is a second-place finish because the 'winners' Matuu were a National team. They took the best players from all over, including ours and they refused to release them back to their old clubs, said Waithaka to futaa.com.
Preparations
However, Waithaka has vowed to put together a sustained challenge next season.
-In the coming season we hope to compete better. We will however not sit and wait till then; we intend participate in international friendlies to get ready, he added.
Matuu were crowned the 2012 champions after garnering 58 points, five ahead of third placed Old is Gold.
