Kenya’s representatives in the Special Olympics proved a hard nut to crack in the South African tournament earning a semifinal place in the tournament with a convincing 9-0 thrashing of Mauritius.
No way through
The resilient squad was however denied by South Africa in a thrilling semifinal match going down by a narrow 3-1 on penalties after a barren draw in normal time.
The Kenyan team however suffered a blow in the match with three of its players being stretchered off with various injuries which also was a stumbling block for Kenya.
The team had earlier won their matches against Tanzania and drew against Namibia to qualify for the quarters of the three days tourney.
The team will now jet back home after bowing out honorably.
