Ulinzi Stars team manager Jack Matanguta has blamed his side for taking the foot of the pedal in their 2-1 defeat to AFC Leopards in Saturday’s (October 20) Tusker Premier League match, at Mumias Sports Complex.
The official was a frustrated at the Soldiers’ loss of concentration that made them concede two easy goals via set-pieces.
Rwandese international Jonas Paco Nahimana opened the scoring early in the first half via a free-kick, before Stephen Ocholla restored parity in the 80th minute.
Unsettled minds
Seven minutes to the stoppage time, Victor Ochieng’ capitalized on defensive lapse following Charles Okwemba’s corner-kick to give Leopards a crucial win.
-For sure we didn’t deserve to lose that match. We outplayed Leopards from onset and I think they were just lucky to win.
-Lack of concentration was our main undoing; they scored all their two goals from set-pieces. It’s very bitter to equalize and then concede another goal through a set-piece. Our celebration was cut short.
-The loss in now behind us. We are going to rectify the mistakes and ensure we win the remaining three matches, said Matanguta to futaa.com.
Following the defeat, the former TPL champions dropped down to the fourth position on the table.
