Ulinzi Coach concedes defeat

Ulinzi Stars

Ulinzi Stars Coach Sammy Simiyu praised his charges despite their 0-2 defeat to Gor Mahia in a Kenyan Premier League Top Eight final match, on Sunday 19 August, at MISC, Kasarani.

The immediate former champions could have killed the game early in the first half, but Antony Nderitu missed a penalty after Ivan Anguyo handled the ball in the box; forcing the match to go into extra time after a barren draw in the regulation time.

Wasted chances

High flying Rama Salim and Itubu Imbem scored a goal each in the extra time to secure the trophy for Zradvko Logarusic’s team.

-Gor deserved to win the trophy. We played very well but failed to utilize the many chances we created; they got only two and made good use of them, said Simiyu after the match.

-Nderitu is a quality and an experienced player, who has been taking penalties, but I think today was not his day. That is over.

-The loss is behind us and that's the game of football. We are now concentrating on the league, added the former international.
