UEFA to decide on Terry’s punishment

John Terry

The European football governing body (UEFA) said its disciplinary panel will decide on Chelsea captain John Terry's punishment after his ejection for violent conduct against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday 24 April 2012.

The UEFA panel that is set to meet on May 31 allows its disciplinary body to extend the sanction, which will apply next season in Super Cup, Champions League or Europa League matches.

Mandatory one-match ban

Four Chelsea players namely Branislav Ivanovic, Raul Meireles and Ramires together with Terry are suspended for the May 19 final, against Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in Munich.

Each player gets a mandatory one-match ban for receiving their third bookings in the competition.

Chelsea scored twice without Terry to draw 2-2, and advance 3-2 on aggregate.
