Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike helped Spartak Moscow to get their first win in this season's Champions League on Tuesday in Moscow after a 2-1 win over Benfica.
The Russian club desperately need to get a win to revive their slim hope of qualifying from the group which also have title contender Barcelona and they go off to a flying start when .opened scoring in the third minute through defender Rafael Carioca.
Leapfrogged
Although they were pecked back by the Portuguese side in the 33rd minute following an own-goal by Lima; striker Jardel clinched a vital win for Spartak with a 43rd minute goal.
The win ensured Moscow leapfrogged their guests to thrid place on three points while Benfica were rooted to the bottom of the table on 1 point.
