Tusker sees off Talanta to advance

Tusker

Tusker joined AFC Leopards, Sofapaka and Gor Mahia into the FKF Cup semifinals after seeing off Talanta FC 2-0 at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

The Brewers were favorites to win the match but it was not a walk in the park for them as they met prepared opposition from the visitors.

The hosts however pulled the first blood in the 28th minute through mid-season acquisition David Nyanzi but they could not manage to net another as Talanta proved a hard nut to crack for the remainder of the half.

Second half

The second half however registered increased attacks from the Tusker Premier League defending champions adding a second through Nigerian import Joseph Emeka five minutes after restart.

It was not a closed case however as the newly formed side attempted a comeback to no avail leaving the Brewers to carry the day.

Tusker will now face 2009 league champions Sofapaka in the semifinals of the tournament while Gor Mahia will face off with arch rivals AFC Leopards after their victory over Muhoroni FC at City Stadium.

AFC Leopards eliminated Karuturi Sport in their Saturday encounter in Mumias Complex handing them a 4-1 defeat.
