Five Kenyan referees have been selected by African football governing body Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate in upcoming 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Botswana Vs Mali
Eldoret-based referee Sylvester Kirwa will be the man at the center when Botswana hosts Mali on Saturday 13 September 2012. He will be assisted by Elius Kuloba and Peter Kiereini from Bungoma and Nairobi respectively while Moses Osana will be the reserve referee. Ugandan Charles Masembe will be the match commissioner in the match that will kick off at 1600 hours.
Mali thrashed Botswana 3-0in the first leg match played on Saturday 8 September 2012.
Nigeria Vs Liberia
Nigeria will be hosting Liberia on the same day, Saturday 13 September 2012, in Calabar. Kehancha-based Aden Marwa has been appointed as the center referee in the game that will kick off at 1800 hours. The first leg ended in a 2-2 draw.
Football Kenya Federation Chairperson Sam Nyameya expressed his joy with the appointments saying he was very happy with CAF’s decision to use the Kenyan referees.
-We might be absent from the qualifiers but we are extremely happy that our referees have been selected for this important matches, Nyamweya said.
