Tononoka High School retained the Coast Provincial Secondary School football trophy after easily beating Mwavumbo Secondary 3-1, on Saturday 21 July, at Shimo La Tewa High School Grounds.
From on-set, the national finalists looked more dangerous raiding their opponent’s defense and the Swaleh Kinero-trained side was rewarded in the 16th minute through prolific striker Swaleh Abdul.
Consolation
Japheth Nyambu got his name on the score-sheet after half-hour mark with Ronald Juma extending the lead in the 51st minute.
Mwavumbo scored their consolation goal ten minutes to the stoppage time.
National finals
In the girl’s contest, after a barren draw in the regular time, St. John edged-out Kilifi Mixed 5-4 on post-match penalties.
Tononoka and St. John will carry Coast’s flag during the national games to be held, at the same venue on 6th-11th August.
