The teams coach Swaleh Sunda Abdalla believes the result would have been different if the team’s first choice custodian Fozi Matano had started the game.
Documents
Second Choice goalkeeper Oscar Mwandago started the game after Matano was barred for failure to present his documents. He eventually did so and replaced Mwandago at the beginning of the second half.
-We really missed Matano and we actually played better after he came in, Abdalla told futaa.com.
-But I’m proud of my boys, they did their best and I know they will do better in the next game.
Tononoka’s Ocholla Okoth was red carded in the 85th minute during the game after fouling Dennis Nandwa inside the box. St. Athony’s Custodian Gabriel Andika stepped forward to take the resultant spot kick but his shot was saved by the impressive Matano.
Next game
Tononoka will play Garissa High School in their next Group A match on Wednesday 8 August, a game Abdalla says he hopes the team will win.
-We will rectify the mistakes we did today and hopefully bounce back by beating Garissa, he said.
The game will be played at the Shanzu Teachers Training College.
