Togo’s head Coach Didier Six has slowly come to terms playing without one of Togo’s greatest exports Emmanuel Adebayor.
We can’t keep waiting and hanging our hopes on one player
The key striker, once with Arsenal in the English Premier League but now with Manchester City but at Tottenham Hotspur on loan, gave the team his back ahead of 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya’s Harambee Stars.
-Nobody can deny the talent and importance of Emmanuel Adebayor in the Togo National team, and the great things he has done for the nation, he said to goal.com
- But we can’t keep waiting and hanging our hopes on one player, who has turned his back on us. We need to accept the situation, work with those available and move forward,
He was a no show
-And that is what I feel the players are beginning to do. We must learn not to depend on one player but depend on the team as a whole, he added
Adebayor was expected to jet in for a first leg first round 2013 qualifier in Nairobi on Wednesday 29 February but he was a no show as well as during the return tie played in Lome, Togo on Sunday 17 June 2012.
Togo’s Hawks went 2-1 down in the first leg but a 1-0 win in the reverse tie sent the team through to the second round to be played in September and October this year.
