Ayub Timbe Masika’s RC Genk qualified for the Group stage of
the UEFA Europa League after completing a 2-3 aggregate win over Swiss side
Luzern with a 2-0 home win in a second leg payoff round tie played on Thursday
30 August 2012.
Heading into the game, Genk trailed Luzern 2-1 on aggregate, a result carried from the first leg tie played on Thursday 23 August 2012.
The reverse tie played at the Cristal Arena in Genk was barren at the half. 11 minutes into the second half, Genk went 1-0 up with a goal from Barcelona born defender Dani Fernandez.
Genk was then to add a second goal two minutes to time to confirm their path to the Group stage with a 3-2 aggregate win.
That goal came from 19 year Kenyan striker Ayub Timbe Masika who had just made his Europa League debut two minutes earlier after coming in as a substitute for Nigerian midfielder Kennedy Ugoala Nwanganga.
