On Sunday 16 September 2012, Kakamega Homeboyz returned to the top of Division One Zone B after a hard fought 1-0 win over former Premier League side Agro Chemicals in a game played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Break in at the changing rooms

The goal that mattered was scored by Ronald Otieno Omino in the 63rd minute of the game when he flicked a free kick form Daniel Njoroge Waweru.

Naturally after the win, Homeboyz players and officials went into frenzy but moments later they all froze on realization of a break in at the changing rooms where their personal effects were stolen.

News of the theft was relayed to our news desk by Homeboyz Chair Cleophas Shimanyula and also confirmed our own reporter Rogers Eshitemi who was at the venue.

11 mobile phones

-We realized there was a break in when the players returned to the changing room where they realized there personal effects were strewn all over the floor

-A laptop belonging Ronald Otieno and 11 mobile phones were stolen. The thieves also picked money from wallets – a total of Kshs 5,650.

69 points

-We have reported the matter to the police and the matter is now being investigated. It is a very demoralizing act especially to the player, added Shimayula.

Homeboyz is top of the pile with 69 points, three ahead of second placed Nakuru AllStars.
