FIFA, soccer’s world football governing body, has ordered for a fresh elections process to choose new executives for the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), following cancellation of February 24 controversial elections.
This comes two weeks after FIFA officials, went to Tanzania to investigate allegations of irregularities in the election process.
FIFA has also ordered that the elections must be held not later than October 30, this year.
-FIFA Emergency Committee met on April 28 and resolved that the TFF election process start afresh and that we hold the elections not later than October 30 this year.
-They also ordered us to amend the constitution and create two appropriate instruments that should be authorized to handle matters of ethics violations, said TFF President Leodegar Tenga.
TFF is supposed have an Ethics Committee and Election Appeal Committee before conducting fresh elect as lack of these committees played a role in the elections being nullified according to a letter sent to TFF by FIFA.
-Due to the lack of ethics committees, one of the candidates had been regularly excluded in all the polls without knowing the exact length of his punishment, read the letter in part.
Tenga who has lead the Federation for two terms of four years each has said he will not vie for re election.
