On Sunday 23 September
2012, former England Captain John
Terry quit the national team because the Football Association (FA) ‘has made his position with the
team untenable'.
Disappointed
A day after, and inevitable so, National team Coach Roy Hodgson, 62 accepted Terry’s decision.
-I'd like to thank John
Terry for his commitment to the England team since I became manager, he said in
a quote carried on soccerway.com
-I am of course
disappointed to lose a player of John's international experience and
exceptional ability.
Reluctantly
-I have enjoyed a
good relationship with John during my time as England manager and I reluctantly
accept his decision. I can also confirm that he had the courtesy to call me
prior to announcing his retirement from the England team.
-I'd like to wish
John well for the future with Chelsea, he added
Until his retirement, Terry had played 78 times for England since being capped back in 2003.
