The Tanzanian Premier League [TPL] match between Simba SC and Azam FC, played on Saturday 11 February 2012, at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, grossed TSh67.5 million [approx. KSh3.75 million].
This was collected from the 19, 257 fans, who attended the match that ended 2-0, in favour of Simba.
After deducting the expenses and taxes, each team took home TSh14.5 million [approx. KSh805, 000], while the Tanzania Football Federation banked TSh4.4 million [approx. KSh244, 000].
The TPL is one of the best followed in Sub-Saharan Africa with ties between Simba and Yanga, known to draw mammoth crowds, linked to old rivalry.
