The Nigerian U20 National team Flying Eagles defeated host Tanzania 2-1 on Sunday 29 July to ensure their progress to the second leg of the Africa Youth Championship qualifiers.
Enugu Rangers' striker, Alhaji Gero netted a first-half brace, before the home team pulled a goal back on 51 minutes through Alhaji Said.
Second half redemption
The Ngorongoro Heroes responded well to their opponents who were seemingly tough. Despite the pressure, they managed to break deadlock when Alhaji Said headed home six minutes into the second half.
Coach Jakob Michelsen’s side is hopeful of the return leg which takes place in a fortnight after their spirited performance in Dar es Salaam.
Ngorongoro Heroes will travel to Nigeria for the second leg, second round encounter.
