Sweet victory for AFC Leopards

Salim Khamis

Jan Koops’ boys started the Ashitiva Memorial Tournament on a right footing, trouncing a determined Division One side Kakamega Homeboyz FC 2-0, in a thrilling encounter at Kakamega Grounds on Saturday 28 January.

It’s a repeat of their last year’s 2-0 win in the pre-quarter FK Cup match at City Stadium.

first half victory

The two first half goals were all that Ingwe needed to seal the convincing victory courtesy of Salim Kinje Khamis and Victor Ochieng’.

Kinje was on target eight minutes into the play as the former Chemelil Sugar FC hit-man doubled the scores one minute later before he’s substituted in the second half by Mike Baraza.

next match

Homeboyz came back in the second half more re-energized, making numerous raids but good defensive co-ordination by Jonas Nahimana, Eric Masika, Edwin Wafula and Abbas Kiwaalabye kept their vicious hit-men Japhary Abdi and Rooney Omino at bay.

Leopards are now on top of pool A with three points and they’ll be tussling against National Youth Talent Academy (NYTA) later in the day after NYTA-Homeboyz match.
