Alfred Imonje reacted with surprise to the suspension he was handed by Muhoroni Youth FC on Sunday 22 April, a day after he had led his side to a 0 – 0 draw against fellow Kenyan Premier League (KPL) newcomers Oserian.
Caught unawares
The former AFC Leopards coach was suspended for two weeks without prior notice and says he just read it on futaa.com and has not even received official communication as yet from the club’s chairman Mr. Moses Adagala.
Imonje says the main reason that led to Adagala taking the step was because he had asked for salaries for members of his technical bench, whom he says have gone without pay since March yet there was no sign of the pay coming forth.
-I just read of my suspension on futaa.com last night, I didn’t know anything about this coming; neither do I have official communication to that effect.
Unpaid dues
-The main problem Mr. Adagala had with me is that I had gone to ask for my technical bench’s salary–including mine- which has not been paid since March yet right now April is drawing to the end. And it is even worse that whenever we ask we get mixed messages from the various officials.
Imonje also admitted he and his technical bench had done much for the team under difficult circumstances with the club administrators not even aware of what the players are going through.
-We have done so well so far with the team under very difficult circumstances yet Adagala himself and many others up there do not even know how the team is catered for, Imonje told futaa.com.
