The inaugural edition of the Super Eight women's football tournament continues this weekend in various venues around the city. Action will be plenty as the different teams square it out for a slot in the final stages of the tournament soponsored by Extreem Sports CEO and football chairmanship aspirant Hussein Mohammed.
In the weekend matches Kamunkunji constituency’s Makolandos will take on Makadara’s Mbotela Eaglets while Starehe’s Old Is Gold will battle it out with Kasarani’s Baba Ndogo. Both of these matches will kick off at 0900Hrs.
The other match will start at 1000Hrs and will bring together Westland’s Good girls against Langata’s Moyas as Embakasi’s Mathare take on Dagoretti’s Soccer Sisters. All these matches will be played at the Nairobi Technical training Institute on Sunday 24th July 2011.
The Super 8 Women edition is currently being played within the Nairobi constituencies but aims at spreading its wings out to the rest of the country with the hope of starting a permanent women's league that will be competing on the same strength as the men's premier league.
Of the total amount of Ksh 1 Million, Ksh Three Hundred Thousand (Khs 300,000/=) will go towards prize money to the winning teams, while the rest will be used for logistics, administration and marketing of the tournament.
