With four days to closing of the voting lines, Western Stima has pushed Rangers FC from the top-four teams of the Kenya Power Charity Cup.
However, the recently-relegated side still has a chance to play in the Saturday 2 February one-day tournament.
Gor Mahia, and AFC Leopards are the respective top two teams, while 2012 Tusker Premier League Champions Tusker FC are third, in terms of vote-distribution.
Selection
The pool of teams from which fans are voting comprises all the 16 teams that played in the Kenyan Premier League in 2012 (including now-relegated Oserian and Rangers) and the top three teams from each of the two zones of the Division One league (Bandari, Bidco United, Admiral; Kakamega Homeboyz, Nzoia United, Agrochemicals.)
Rewards
The winner will take home a $10,000 (approx. KSh840,000) cash prize, while the runners up will bag $6,000 (approx. KSh540,000).
The third and fourth-placed teams will each take home $2,000 (approx.KSh168,000).
Voting will be done by sending a message containing the team’s name to short-code number 2542. SMS will be charged at KSh20 per message, with auditing functions being assigned to Deloitte and Touche.
Organizers
Partnering with Kenya Power in running the tournament are the Kenya Red Cross, Kenyan Premier League (KPL) and Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
