The National Football team Harambee Stars slipped to the third position after their weekend defeat away in Luanda Angola. The stars went down courtesy of a Manucho goal in the 70th minute after he squeezed in a tight header past Jamal Mohammed and Boniface Oluoch at the near post.
The ball was floated in from a corner kick but the former Manchester United striker took advantage of some space to head it into the Kenyan net. This happened moments after Harambee Stars were denied a Kelvin Ochieng goal in the 61st minute when he was ruled offside.
Table standings
Following the loss, Stars now move down to the third position in group J standings still having four points from the four games they have played in the qualifiers. The home boys lost against Guinea Bissau away before drawing Uganda at home. They then beat Angola at home only to lose in the return leg.
Leaders of the group Uganda have garnered 10 points so far and look set to feature in the Africa Cup of Nations next year. Cranes have beaten Angola, then saw off Guinea Bissau both home and away. They however drew against Kenya and now awaits the return leg to be played in Uganda later this year.
Stars still have a mathematical chance of qualification if they beat Uganda away and Guinea at home. This will also depend on whether Angola wins against Uganda and Guinea Bissau.
The 2012 Africa cup of Nations will be co-hosted by Gabon and Equitorial Guinea.
